Based on Walt Disney’s personal style – “casual elegance” – the Walt Disney Furniture Collection by Drexel Heritage is high end adult style. No Mickey Mouse ears hidden in the drawers!
What do we think? I think it has a kind of mid-century Hollywood Glam to it.
I am mystified as to why they needed to call it the Walt Disney Collection. But it’s perfectly unobjectionable.
I see a lot of art deco influence there, which I love. I imagine the Disney name will only inflate the price tag, but the pieces are gorgeous, as you would expect.
Such a refreshing change from some of the tacky furniture they make for kids…
I agree, Jinxy, about the art deco. And, yes, I think as with any of these named furniture lines, there’s a certain amount of price inflation. On the other hand, if I were in the position to license either my own name, or someone elses, I’d certainly want the product to live up to a certain quality standard. It’s part of the reason why I started this series of posts – to explore the branding of famous names or ideas and how the finished product reflects the inspiration.
I rather like. It brings back the old comfortable Uncle Walt feeling.
