South Shore Conservatory “Chase Away the Winter Blues”

Original art created for the event by Gary Nisbet.

One of my favorite local organizations that I’m involved with is the South Shore Conservatory of Music. The school, one of the largest schools of music education of its kind in the country, held its annual major fundraiser last night – “Chase Away the Winter Blues”. Attendees were treated to vocal and instrumental jazz performances, tasty pulled pork po’ boys, blue martinis and an amazing silent auction. I donated a guided tour of the Boston Design Center to the three top bidders. Three of my favorite people – Laura, Linda and Irma – banded together and were the high bidders. So, I’m looking forward to our “insiders tour” of Boston’s design mecca.

I’m a member of the board of overseers of the conservatory and served on the organizing committee for the event. And yes, I was in charge of the decorations. As is typical of these types of small non-profit events – the decor is done on a shoestring. Aside from fresh batteries for the cordless strings of blue lights – I don’t think we spent any money this year!

What would we do without strings of white lights! They can turn even the most mundane lobby into a wonderland.

Trust me – these rooms looked really great in person!!!

One of my bff’s Beth MacLeod – singing the blues!

Linda Merrill and Beth MacLeod – a little song, a little martini…

A lot of money was raised for the music and arts based education of hundreds of school children and adults on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
