The July issue of House Beautiful just hit my mailbox today. The issue is dedicated to small spaces and their Kitchen of the Month is this tiny jewel by designer Stephanie Stokes in her New York City apartment. This wee space is only 48 sq. feet and clearly, every inch had to count. Literally – she used a thinner marble countertop to gain a half-inch of storage and sneaked extra storage between wall studs. After designing many larger kitchens for clients, Stephanie knew exactly what she wanted and needed. One great tip is that her backsplash is mirrored, a time honored decorator trick to make a space feel larger.
And here is my tiny little kitchen – which is actually a little larger than Ms. Stokes’. I so want a new kitchen! And, if I hadn’t started my own design firm, I would probably have it by now. Oh well. A girl can dream, and plan, for that lottery win!
