Saturday Thrifting: A special find!

I am very excited about today’s Salvation Army store find. This stoneware pitcher and bowl have a beautiful, feminine shape and is a gorgeous, soft cream. And the nice thing is that it doesn’t say “Made in China” anywhere on it. Actually, impressed in the bottom of both pieces is “P.C. 1974”. I did a quick research and didn’t come up with anything, but I do think these pieces were handmade. The little marks from being held up on pins during firing are still evident. Anyway, I love it and that’s a great feeling, especially when they cost $10, and that $10 went to charity – a win win!

  2. Hi Linda,
I absolutely love this kind of china/stoneware. I had the chance to rummage some fleamarkets in good Ole England years ago and found a marvellous pitcher and bowl with painted roses, which happened to fit with my teapot collection – just for pennies! Hard to find today!

  3. That is fantastic, Linda. I love pieces like that, even though I no longer display them in my new house. If I found it I'd still buy it though, so I can admire it everytime I'd open my cabinet. I don't know how it is in Chicago, but in Tulsa we used to have the best Estate Sales… you should see the treasures I've found there.
