The Mount Washington Resort

The Mount Washington Resort

The Omni Mt. Washington Resort has long been on my “must visit” lists. In this 2nd Spa Week post, I am sharing the gorgeousness of this hotel and spa. It was on our short list for a spa getaway. This place has something for everyone all year long. Built between 1900 and 1902 – this is the pinnacle of a Grande Dame hotel of the Gilded Age.  Travelers would journey up to the White Mountains by rail to enjoy mountain vistas and cool weather. At it’s peak, as many as 50 trains a day stopped at one of three train stations, with passengers from Boston, New York and Philadelphia. Amazingly, they weren’t open for a winter season until 1999.

The hotel is large and luxurious. This is the grand dining room.

Ahh…

The Spa has a wide selection of beauty and body services available, plus package deals available as well.

The hotel rooms are gorgeous and varied in their decor. Definitely not a cookie cutter place! And check out the views outside the windows…

Seasons

In the end, I decided that when I do get the chance to do the Mt. Washington Resort, I want be able to spend some real time there – both spa-ing and just relaxing and taking in the natural beauty of the surroundings and basking in the luxury of the hotel. Between the nearly 3 hour drive (in unpredictable New England weather) and a busy schedule, I just couldn’t swing it. But some day!

Stay tuned for the final two New England Spa destinations to come! If you enjoyed this, you can see all Spa Week posts here.
