The Pinehills Dream Home
Each year, Boston Magazine builds a custom home which showcases design and architecture while raising funds for a good cause. This year’s Design Home is located in the sprawling Pinehills development in Plymouth, Massachusetts. This is the twelfth design home project and full ticket proceeds benefit Boston Children’s Hospital.
This year’s house is the flagship residence in the new “Dawn’s Light” neighborhood in The Pinehills. The firm of Polhemus Savery DaSilva Architects Builders (PSD) of Cape Cod designed and built the house and PSD interior designer Angela Rotondo was design coordinator.
I was invited to head down to The Pinehills for the Press Day and wanted to share some of my favorite rooms. The house is quite lovely and styled to capture the essence of coastal casual living.
The First Floor
One thing I particularly like in the living room is how the dreaded tv-over-fireplace is obscured by the dark blue wall. Preferred tv viewing is more of a straight-on position, however, there’s not a lot of choice in this space which abuts in the kitchen and dining area in an open floor plan concept.
Sorry, my pics were very “cloudy” for some reason…
This is the view out the back of the home – most of the rooms (including the basement level) have views of the ocean. This house sits on one of the highest points along the coast and has sweeping views of Cape Cod bay, looking towards Provincetown.
The Bedrooms
The First Floor master bedroom features a similar color palette as the living room and also has the lovely ocean views from this corner room.
The master bathroom large with lots of counter space, a free standing tub, separate shower and wc.
A little sparkle and glitz.
“His” office is on the first floor. There was also a “her” office upstairs. I loved the deep rich tones of the walls and wood furnishings. I’d happily work in this office. (though it would never be this neat and clean!)
One of the upstairs bedrooms featuring beautiful Schumacher materials on the bedding. Design coordinator Angela Rotondo made the piece above the bed. A cute little touch of whimsy in a very styled space can make a big difference.
The Basement/Lower Level
Similary, in the basement/lower level, the ceramic deer (?) heads with plants sprouting as horns added a touch of nature and whimsy to this very styled space.
This is a pretty great bar cabinet. Say cheese!
And love the Boston terrier on the console table.
The lower level is really a full apartment unto itself. It’s a pretty great party space.
Of course, there was lots more to see – including a lovely kitchen, three season porch and back deck overlooking the views. The house is 4,427 boasts 3 bedrooms with ensuites, plus another full and 1/2 baths. The house is on the market for $2,295,000 (not including furnishings) and is the first of I think 16 houses to be built in this neighborhood.
The Design Home at The Pinehills is open from September 14 – October 9th, 2016. Tickets are $25 and 100% of the proceeds goes to Boston Children’s Hospital. Click here for more information.
I hope you enjoyed my tour!
