New England Church Conversion

I’ve written before about my love of a church conversion project and I wanted to share another one that is currently on the market in Hingham, Massachusetts.

This was, until a couple of years ago, the First Church of Christ Science located right on Main Street in Historic Hingham, MA. Once called the “most beautiful street in America” by Eleanor Roosevelt, Main Street is lined for a few miles with historic homes and gorgeous old New England churches. Church Conversion

Some older views of the church are still available.

So, back to present day, this Hingham church conversion is pretty fabulous!

The Hingham church conversion was staged by The Queen’s Garden.

The kitchen features beautiful quality materials and is huge! I do think the design seems a little inefficient and spread out, but it’s certainly built to be the heart of the home.

There is a cute little butler’s pantry between the kitchen and dining room. I don’t love the design of the tiles though – they look like they are collapsing to my eye!

You can see just how large this house is at 6,000 sq. ft. The entire basement is also finished and has several rooms and lots of storage. You can just imagine it was once a dark church basement filled with lots of love and fellowship. The basement is full walk-out on this side of the house. I think it would make a perfect location for a yoga studio, art space, small shop. Some kind of mixed use space. I’m not entirely sure of the zoning in this location, but there are many businesses along this street, so I feel like it would have some mixed use possibilities.

This is my Mini – I think it looks great parked out front! Mini car, Maxi house!
