Interior Design & Architecture Resources at your fingertips

Did you know that I have an Interior Design Resource board on Pinterest? In addition to these posts on how high and wide to hang window treatments, I collect other great tips sheets in one place for easy reference. I wanted to be sure you had access to these as well!

Here’s a sample of what I have pinned:

The architecture and timeline of American houses from Colonial to McMansion, and everything in the between. A little bit of the good, the bad and the ugly!

This Old House put together this illustration of important and standard dimensions that every homeowner should know. Getting dimensions right is one of the most important aspects of designing a home or merely just know how to place furniture. It’s the place where our physical needs and comfort meets brick and mortar. Get it wrong and it not only looks wrong, but feels wrong as well.

This is a classic chart that has been around for a million years. But, if you want a quick way of knowing and understanding how much fabric it takes to re-upholster a piece of furniture, this is the best one out there. And hint: it’s always more that you might think.

My friends Sally Wilson and John Kelsey of Wilson Kelsey Design have been putting together tutorials and blog posts about trim proportions, based on classic architectural rules. A column is not just a column and all those old Greek and Roman building – which have been standing for thousands of years – don’t look right just by chance.

Also, I am honored to share that I have once again been nominated for an Amara Interior Blog Award in the category of Best Interior Designer Blog. This is an international award, so it’s all the more exciting! If you would consider voting for me, I’d be so honored. The way it works is that your vote will help put me on the shortlist, after which an esteemed international panel of judges then selects the winner. Even to be shortlisted would be huge! Thank you!
