I’ve been a bit disorganized these last few weeks as we transition from fall to the holiday season- so I’m sorry there have been no blog posts! That said, I am very excited because on Saturday, December 8th, I’ll be heading up to my favorite town of Newburyport in Massachusetts for the annual Holiday House Tour sponsored by the Custom House Maritime Museum.
I used to live in Newburyport several years ago, which is when I first started going to the Christmas tours. This historic city has so much richness and variation in its architecture – homes range from Colonial to grand Federal to gingerbread Victorian to modern. It’s also a coastal city so there is always that special flavor to many of the homes. Because of this, the house tours, whether Christmas Holiday tours or the annual summertime Kitchen Tour are always fantastic.
I thought I’d shade some of my favorite images I’ve taken on past tours. I find that great inspiration for my own decorating (always a work in progress!). I’ll post a link at the bottom to the full posts these images come from, but here are my favorites.

I’m still working on my own decorations – how about you? I’m not doing a tree this year. I did a big decorated wreath in my bay window last year and will be doing the same this year. My house is small and a tree, even a little one, takes up an awkward amount of space! But, since I’m always tweaking my decorations throughout the season, you never know. I may come across the perfect Charlie Brown tree and throw it in my Mini and bring it home.
If you attend a great annual Christmas tour where you live, please share!

I loved this post. I have been to Newburyport only once and hope to visit again.
Thank you Sherry! It’s such a great city!
I love the director style chairs in the dining room, so my style! Thanks for sharing. We just bought and decorated our tree and hung up the stockings. Bam, drop the mike, I’m done! (lol that’s about all I’m into – such a scrooge when it comes to holiday decorating) Merry Christmas Linda.
Merry Christmas to you to Mary Beth!
Lovely tour. It really helps you feel the Christmas spirit!
Thanks Carla! Still working on the images from the 2018 tour on Saturday. There were some beautiful houses!
